Don't Forget to Be Kind to Yourself
As managers, we all have good days and bad days. Some days it seems like everything is going right and nothing can stop us from achieving our goals. Other days nothing goes correctly, and it appears that the world is out to get us.
It is on these rough days, the days when our goals seem so far out of reach, that we need to be kind to ourselves, showing patience, not just with ourselves, but those we love. Take time every day to do small acts of kindness for yourself.
Life can be a challenge, and it can be hard to stay sharp and focused every day. Somedays we will make great strides forward, and other days it is like climbing a hill of sand where every step is a slide back, and we keep getting buried under a pile of frustrations.
Just remember it’s going to be o.k.
Challenging times are a part of life, and they happen to all of us. Remember to keep things in perspective, believe that tomorrow is going to be better, and give yourself credit for the small things that did go right instead of focusing on what went wrong.
Take time out to give yourself small rewards. Take ten minutes out to get to that book you’ve meant to read. Buy yourself a nice warm cup of coffee and grab some quiet time to sit back and relax.
Somedays nobody will give us a break, so we have to find the time to give ourselves a break. Love yourself you are worth it. Today will pass and tomorrow will be another day to get back on the horse and achieve your goals.
Smile. Say hi to a stranger. Help somebody in need. Volunteer your time. You have so much to offer and the little things you do for somebody else today will bring great rewards in how it makes you feel and how it benefits the world at large. Kindness to others can be the greatest kindness to self in that it allows us to acknowledge the good that we have to offer the world around us.
No matter how bad things get don’t lose your focus. Find ways to encourage yourself. Keep your fire burning and moving toward your goals. Please don’t wait for others to support you. Unfortunately, we can’t always count on others, but we can always rely on ourselves. You need to be your best friend.
Find support in family and friends. Make time to call a friend or family member you haven’t talked to in a while. Catch up and offer them support. You might find a special relationship that you have lost and gain the support you did not know existed.
Today is yours to make what you want of it. It may not go as planned, but that’s all right. Allow yourself to be satisfied with what you have achieved today no matter how small. Allow yourself to appreciate all the gifts you have to give. Moreover, if you need extra support drop me an email I am always glad to help - managerbasics@gmail.com.
